Delinda Jan Smith

Jan Smith began her legal career by earning a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science degree from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2004. Ms. Smith graduated magna cum laude and was on the Dean's List for every semester. After moving to Gainesville for law school, Ms. Smith earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2007, and immediately began working as an Assistant Public Defender in the Eight Judicial Circuit. After one year of handling hundreds of Misdemeanors such as Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Domestic Violence cases, Ms. Smith was promoted to a Felony position at the Public Defenders Office. Ms. Smith spent two and a half years defending various felony charges ranging from Attempted Murder and Drug Trafficking down to Possession of Cocaine and Felony Theft.

In May, 2011 Ms. Smith left public practice and became the primary criminal law attorney at Silverman, Vorhis & Doan. Ms. Smith continues to defend criminal cases across North Central Florida, including Columbia, Marion, Alachua, Bradford, Levy, Baker, Gilchrist and Union Counties.

Ms. Smith lives in Gainesville with her family.
